Who We are

Oliver-trimmed-accounting-for-actors.jpg

Accounting4Actors was created because we could see that creative and cultural industry professionals need a better, easier, quicker and cheaper route to professional tax and accounting advice.

We firmly believe that creative people get better support from professionals who understand them and understand the challenges they face.

We work mainly in London and the south-east but we do have clients elsewhere in the UK and meetings in person are only rarely necessary, so it’s worth approaching us wherever you are based.

Jon Harris, ACMA, CGMA, MA (Cantab.), FRSA is Director of accounting4actors.co.uk and has over 20 years’ experience of the creative and cultural industries:
“I am a fully-qualified Chartered Management Accountant and started my career producing shows and running entertainment spaces. I’ve toured all over the world, and produced everywhere from the Edinburgh Fringe to the West End – so I profoundly understand and empathise with actors and others working in the industry.”

Jon is a Member-in-Practice of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and prepares accounts for sole traders, limited companies working in the creative and cultural industries, sports clubs (professional and amateur) and associations. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Musical Theatre Academy, a drama school in London.

Accounting4Actors was established as an expert accountant for creatives and to give all relevant advice on accounts, tax and business finances for anyone working in the creative and cultural industries. As a specialist accountant for creatives we firmly believe we are fulfilling a genuine need for our services. We receive many enquiries from performers, designers, writers, directors, craftspeople, fashion designers, models, classical and pop musicians, stage managers, stage technicians and more seeking our specialist advice! We also provide specialist advice for those working in sports industries such as self-employed personal trainers, coaches working in a wide variety of sports including football, rugby, tennis and athletics, as well as agents of sportsmen and sportswomen. Traditional firms of accountants may not be as well placed to provide detailed advice to those working in the creative industries. Utilising the experience and knowledge we have gained acting as an accountant for creatives, we can provide a service tailored to the specific needs of those working in creative roles. The help we can provide is not limited to assistance in the purely technical sense such as often spotting technical items which a more generalist, non-specialist accountant may not - but also because of our understanding and our ability to empathise. Many industry people and characters are familiar to us as both friends and colleagues and working in the creative and cultural sector for many years has furnished us with a depth of knowledge that we can effectively apply in our role as an accountant for creatives. Please call free or email if there are any matters with which we can help.
